While Alsace and Germany are historically intertwined, their vinous present is bringing them ever closer. On both sides of the Rhine, an increasing number of growers are embracing a progressive and sustainable vision of viticulture, choosing to focus on making vibrant and mostly bone-dry wines. With a terroir of such geological diversity and a climate that enhances freshness, we believe that this new generation of Alsatian and German winemakers are on the verge of an exciting breakthrough.
As the term 'orange' becomes ubiquitous in the wine jargon, we want to talk about different shades to explore within the realm of those white wines fermented on the skins like red wines.
Expect chats about experimental winemaking, varietal variations and amphorae!
Have a glass and a laugh with our good friend Rachel, founder of the beautiful PIPETTE MAGAZINE (formerly known as TERRE). Expect surprises and specials BTG - all from Burgenland in Austria.
We are super excited to welcome Swiss chef and our good friend Patrick Schindler to Newcomer Wines this sunday.
Patrick will be cooking up an Asian BBQ feast in our garden and we’ll be pouring our favourite Swiss cider from Cidrerie du Vulcain to go with it. Mags and kegs of it!
Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s biggest claim to wine fame, and for good reason!
At this tasting we will be exploring some of the more experimental and unconventional expressions of this classic Austrian variety.
Expect skin contact, solera systems and a Grüner aged under flor from the Czech Republic. These bottles won’t taste like your typical Wachau Grüner and we’re pretty excited about that.
White and Rosé are not the only colours you should be drinking this summer!
As many of you may have noticed, we are are obsessed with chilled reds. And for good reason. Sometimes a cool crunchy red hits the spot like nothing else, especially on a warm summer's day.
And my, do we have an enticing line up for you…
Move aside Burgundy, it's time for someone else to step into the limelight!
At our next tasting we will be pouring some very special Pinot Noirs from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The line up will include some wines from two of our recent German additions - Weingut Roterfaden from Württemberg and Pinot Noir mavericks Enderle & Moll from Baden.
We will also be opening a very special Pinot from cult Swiss producer Domaine de Mythopia!
Rest assured, this is one heck of a line-up.
Tis' the season to drink all the fizz!
Join us on Wednesday the 6th for a special bubble-themed drop in tasting.

We are thrilled to have just started working with the stunning Swiss wines of Markus Ruch. Markus biodynamically farms 3 hectares of vines in the Klettgau valley in eastern Switzerland, making some of the most delectable Pinot Noirs and amphorae-fermented whites we've tasted!
Markus will be coming over to visit us for the first time on Sunday the 19th November, and pouring some of his wines at one of our favourite watering holes - Sager & Wilde Hackney Road! Swiss-born Michael Sager has long championed Swiss wines, and we are very excited to be co-hosting this special winemaker night with him.
There will be wine, lots of Swiss cheese (of course), and an abundance of happy faces!
Join us on Wednesday for a tasting of some special white wines from Christoph Neumeister - our most recent Styrian addition!
Christoph and his brother organically cultivate 24 hectares of vines around the steep hillsides of Straden in south eastern Styria, Austria. Everything is done by hand in the vineyards and the cellar, and the brothers have plantings in some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc plots in Styria.
Yes that's right, it's high time we cracked out the schnapps!
On the 4th of October we'll be pouring some delicious fruit juice and schnapps (eau de vie) from Wetter. This artisanal Austrian producer works almost exclusively with old varieties of fruit that's rarely seen in commercial production. Everything is done by hand in the orchard and only the best quality fruit makes the cut.
Tickets are £5 and are available to buy on the day.
Lukas Mraz of Cordobar fame will be taking over the Newcomer kitchen on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of September.
Lukas is one of Austria's most talented and innovative young chefs, as well as a good friend of ours. This collaboration has been in the works for some time now, and we are very excited to finally have it in the calendar!
We are very excited to be teaming up with Wines of Germany and Wine & Vinyl to throw one epic winemaker night!
